Norkram and the Environment

Environmental Policy

As Norkram was established in order to reduce the practices harmful to the environment, it is essential that we maintain a strong environmental policy and as such, will engage in the activities below.

Norkram will:

  • Meet the requirements of all relevant environmental legislation and work closely with local authorities and governing bodies to maintain these standards.

  • Use where possible products that can be recycled, used and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

  • Work with our suppliers and customers, to encourage a similar stance on environmental protection.

  • Minimize the waste and harmful emissions produced in our operations and commercial activities, and promote the reuse and recycling of materials.

  • Site our buildings, structures and operational plant, so that we minimize the visual, noise, and other impacts on the local environment.

  • Provide the necessary training and information to our staff, to ensure that they are able to safely fulfil the commitments given in the company policy.

  • Monitor / audit our contractors regularly to ensure no practices harmful to the environment are being carried out on our behalf.

  • Review our environmental policy on a regular basis.

In line with the above policy, we even wash and reuse the rags soiled in the refurbishing process.

Waste Products Disposal

We are fully committed to minimising the waste output, both to protect the environment and of course save costs.
We generate 2 types of waste from our cleaning and inspection process.

Grey water - recycled during hot water degreasing.
Grease and thread compound - removed from the protectors during cleaning.

The following is our disposal procedure for these waste products:-

  1. At approximately 6 monthly intervals the cleaning water is disposed of by employing the services of a fully licensed hazardous waste disposal company.

  2. The grease and debris is collected, and disposed of by employing the services of a fully licensed hazardous waste disposal company.

  3. Both the water and the grease are tested to confirm the constituents prior to disposal. This conforms to legal requirements and the standard operating procedures of the licensed disposal companies.

Norkram retains records and transfer documentation in line with relevant regulations.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Recycled Thread Protectors reduce costs, minimise landfill and damage to the environment, which is of course everbody's objective.
