Thread Protectors

The types, designs, and manufacturers of thread protectors are many and varied, and we have refurbished most of them.

Types

Open End, where the thread and pipe end are protected but the bore of the pipe is open to the atmosphere.

Closed End Non-Liftable (CENL), which protect the thread and pipe end, and also prevent any ingress of water, moisture and debris by sealing the pipe ends.

Closed End Liftable (CEL), which are the same as the above, closed end protectors, but also allow the pipe to be lifted using pipe hooks.

Designs

Connection or Thread Type
There are various designs to cater for API and proprietary connections.
Wall Thickness or Weight
In some cases protectors differ within a given size depending on wall thickness of the pipe.
Construction
- plastic protectors - 100% plastic
- composite protectors - steel reinforced plastic.

Manufacturers

There are many different thread protector manufacturers worldwide.

One of the best is PATREM in the Czech Republic. Norkram carries stock of PATREM protectors for API tool-joints, tubing and casing plus premium connections.
We can obtain any required protectors not readily available ex-stock and wrap frames from PATREM within 12 days of order.

Bumper Rings. Bumper Rings allow pipes to be bundled without making contact.
Wrap Frames. Wrap Frames are a secure method of bundling pipes, avoiding contact and facilitating handling.
Thread Compunds We are UK stockists of environmentally friendly thread compounds, such as MERCASOL 633SR manufactured by GEVEKO INDUSTRI AB, Sweden.
